Found ourselves listening to this while bombing along the motorway. Gok Wan’s descriptions of growing up fat, chinese and gay were quite moving as were the strategies he evolved through this time to manage things. I have a lot of time for Gok. If you get a chance to, listen to the programme: moving and inspiring in equal measure.
Dieter Rams at the Design Museum
If you like designed objects with a minimum of buttons (pretty much anything by Jonathan Ive at Apple) then the Dieter Rams show at the Design Museum is essential viewing. As well as the Rams’ stuff there’s lots of other non-Rams objects that largely show how massively influential he is. It’s a shame the Design Museum is so expensive.
